SO BEAUTIFUL
“You are so beautiful!” Her grandma loved to tell her.
“So beautiful!” She loved to say.
Then pausing to take a closer look…“and you get more beautiful every day!”
“Grandma,” she said to her one day while, admittedly, feeling a little blue.
“You keep saying that I’m so beautiful…but I don’t think that is true.”
“When I look into the mirror…I try to see the beauty that you see…
but no matter how close or how hard I look…all I see is me.”
“That’s because beauty is illusory.” Her grandma said.
“and must be looked at differently.
Your true beauty is not perceived with your eyes…but in what other people see.”
“If a person sees the good in others…
they are pleasantly surprised when people say about them…
they have the most beautiful eyes.”
“If a person listens with respect
as others express their joys and hopes and fears…
they are pleasantly surprised when people say about them…
they have the most beautiful ears.”
“If a person speaks kind words to others in all their relationships…
they are pleasantly surprised when people say about them…
they have the most beautiful lips.”
“If a person’s touch is kind and gentle wherever it may land
they are pleasantly surprised…when people say about them…
they have the most beautiful hands.”
“If a person’s makes others happy even for a little while
they are be pleasantly surprised when people say about them…
they have the most beautiful smile.
“These are but a few examples of the beauty I see in you
and I have no doubt that one day…you will see your beauty too.
These were the thoughts going through her mind at her grandma’s funeral
as one person after another came up to her to say….
“Your Grandma was so beautiful.”
Which made her smile as she whispered…
”and she got more beautiful every day
