My one wish this new year
as every year...
I wish it from the start...
Is that people would rediscover
the love I know is in their heart.

So that I can say,
“I love you!”
Whether you’re straight
or gay
or black
And you,
without even knowing me can say,
“I love you back.”

The power of love can stop the suffering
the hunger
hate
and war
I believe that power is in all of us...
we just have to wield it more.

I know this is a simple wish
still I send it out to you
with the hope that, perhaps, this year
my one wish will come true.
