A Valiant Effort

You know I didn't want to see you cry

I'm not one for long goodbye

I want an appology

Or something that is sincerely spoken

I want a new life now, not a token

So when you went away that day

Did you think of me? Did you dream of me?

Did you cry your pretty eyes

So pretty eyes

Just as dark and dreamy as the skies

As if I knew what to do

I'll just pray for you

Be everything that you thought you had ever wanted

So here I am, dying for you

Lying for you

Giving up almost everything I loved

But now I hate this all for you

It wasn't meant to be

And now you are killing me

As you are fast asleep

I am breathing, breathing softly

Author's Notes/Comments:

The title of this poem tells it all...you can only try so much before you have to give up- this wasn't written about any particular personal experiance, it just came out.
