So the end has come to meet you
and you’re unsure whether to say hello
or shut the door in the face
of the black-hooded solicitation
you can feel the malicious grin
from behind the wall of black
even the air around the figure
seems to plummet to its death
Slow at first then gathering speed
as the train wreck takes hold
of the track it bends under its iron feet
brandishing its own tether
as a weapon against the changes
moving matter through phases
tides begin to fade away
the oceans become tame
winds fall silent
tempers grow violent
as the mirror recollects his name
demands of equal rights
bring fights that fill the streets
as the rifle sheds its weight in fear
and nearby glass is shattering
but all is still
the earth is taking her last breath
we swallowed the pill
and now we face the consequence
you’ve had your fill
of this carpe diem life
they all grew ill
from the product of your strife
pumping black blood through your veins
the heart dries up and opens drains
it all sinks down
it all sinks down
let’s hope you’ve found your wings
and that you’re ready when the system brings
itself to a grinding halt
this poem reminds me of my poetry. it flows similarly.
