We children spent hours admiring flowers
Striking
Friendship with corolla beauties
Hanging
From trees, sprouting in bushes
Playful
Nose smelling --
Lips kissing marigold, lily, rose, lotus
Loving
Petals tenderly
"Champa, Chameli, Rajnigandha, Belli"
All pretty.
Sucked stems for honey; out of leaves made flutes.
Threading
Fluorescent garlands lit glorious; heavenly red hibiscus
Blooming -- To
Adorn our Mother Goddess "Ma Kali" with her tongue out
In embarrassment
"Her husband Shiva lay on floor, her feet touching his body"
At dawn and dusk,
We offered; our prayers; mango-leaf buds with rubicund smear;
Flowers as
"Shradhanjali" fruits as "Prasadam" burnt incense, blowing conchs.
Lord Shiva and Ma Kali bless you infinitely
for this beautiful poem..
