The Indian woman
can never do without men.
She isn't crazy, just she's so fond of them.
Much early the love stories of her men,
she begins
by loving her father. The man. Followed by her brothers who in return
adore her, irrelevant her age older or young. To them she's sister love.
She is always affectionate. Tying a 'Rakhi' in wrist or
on 'Bhaiya Dooj' decorating
his forehead, prays
for his protection on brothers day.
As she steps, with marriage into her new home
husband in arm, she is coy, beautiful and charm.
Tattoo from sandalwood paste;
like fine filigree
on her face; temple; cheek. Ornamented; henna-hand
blushing through her red veil; wearing 'Bindi' garland
and vermilion. Perfect epitome woman; in sari red.
Tears of joy and calm pour down
her eyes.
Her love profound, she bears her husband, sons.
Lives to love her man 'Patiparameswaram' taking
pride in nurturing her children. The daughter
she teaches, ways and art to inherit heart,
loving.
Her sweet fragrance, conquer the man's imagine.
In her stride, each day that make her strong
She finds pleasure in sacrifices day long
Her true love grows and shows,
she cares --
Treating good, her brother in laws,
like her own brothers --
She follows ritual. In gesture respect, touch
father in law's feet, in 'Pranam'
receive his blessings.
Earn love and affection, thus privileged,
from parent in laws and own parents.
Whether
office or home, duties in smile she performs.
Equally comfortable in T-shirt jeans,
trouser shirt, salwar-kurta, saris.
About the Indian woman and stories of her men;
She's forever; never without one.
By chance; the loving God takes her husband away before;
An anchor she finds sure; in her eager affectionate
ready to care for -- his mom; son.
The wise woman
in her silver strain, perfect companion
take pleasure playing games with grandchildren.
Rich, poor, literate, illiterate the elegant woman Indian
Touch man in give and take removing unwanted substance, always caring.
Hi Baby Rani,
Indian way of life is admirable when it comes to the man woman relationship based on solid ground. I mean family life. It's easy to break at the drop of a hat but takes a lifetime to build. Emancipation is not being a grasshopper but holding the thread of the fabric through "Stitch in time saves nine." Not only man attempt to make Amrapali out of every other woman sometimes even his very own wife, the responsibility stays on her to control situation with real sense. Man and woman are not made for conflict but love "Radha Krishna." It is eternal love not eternal conflict. Love needs sacrifice and sacrifice motivates sacrifice which man can through his love, or as a way to express love ..
i loved this. i was particularly intrigued because your the first indian poet i've come across on this website, & although i don't clearly understand the meaning behind this, i thought in all in its truth and honestly quite good.
Although you probably mean this poem as a political
statement, I love it as a pure lyrical piece and truth.
Idealy in Paradise, man and woman had a symbiotic
relationship, where the existence of the one was
impossible without the other.
I do not mean this only in a biological sense where
it necesitates the existence of both parties for
the propogating the species but, in the feeling of
completeness in onesself through the other. This is frowned upon in the west. But is she not "bone of my bone
and flesh of my flesh"?
In the west and exageration of this feeling is called
'Co-dependency' and we are now moving towards not only
being independent from God but each other, as male's
and female's. Women are being liberated from their need
for their male conterparts and male's are cohertse into
getting intouch with their inner 'females' and to learn
dependence from their 'mothering' conterpart.
As a man, i will forever be dependent on God and the
support of a good woman, knowing that indepence is relative
, only to the responsibility I take for my own well being.
For me independent responsibility is knowing that I need
both God and my womaneven as Adam needed both his God and his woman in order to be grounded.
Never should the need of a man for his wife or visa-versa
(wife for her man) be at the neglect of their creator
but as a blance between what is heavenly and beautiful and
what anchors us here to what is beautiful on earth.
