Grief

I grieved the loss of who you were, not who you became

The man I fell in love with, made children with, never to be the same

He now beats me with his cruel words and slaps me with his tongue

No physical kick or punch could sting like this as stung

Ashes and ashes and dust and dust

I buried our future, my hope, and your trust

Your face distorts now like blurred lines

No longer reconizable but anger redefined

Six feet under ground below the dirt

I lay on top of this heap of hurt

Who changed first we will never know

But I went back and you let go

So I'll mourn what we had or could have been

And I will relay your death to your next of kin
