Diapers and laundry
Replaced dancing and decibels
Runny noses and belly-aches
Replaced manicures and facials
Bottles and pacifiers
Replaced reservations and wine lists
Tantrums and toddlers
Replaced spontaneous weekend trysts
SUV’s and booster seats
Replaced 2-door sports cars
Bad dreams and monsters
Replaced the peaceful stars
But…
Baby laughs and big eyes
Replaced a selfishness
Homemade arts and crafts
Replaced a barren cleanliness
Make believe and magic
Replaced a forgotten fun
Snuggle bugs and goodnight kisses
Replaced a lonely one
Laughter and Lego’s
Replaced a broken heart…
And that can never be replaced nor torn apart.
