My Mirror

Looking in the mirror as an adult, the reflection glancing back at me is of a fat little girl in glasses.

This is the fat little girl who prayed to her God, "Please God, turn me into a pretty swan, like you did to the ugly duckling".

Silence. Nothing.

This is the fat little girl who prayed to her God, "Oh please God, let me shed my cocoon, so I can transform into an exquisite butterfly".

Silence. Nothing.

This is the fat little girl, who prayed to her God,

"Father, let me bloom like the lotus flower, that only truly blooms to perfection from the thickest and ugliest mud".

Silence. Nothing.

This is the fat little girl I see staring back at me.

"Why God", I scream, "Did you forsake my pleas"?

God's calm voice replies:

"Oh my Child, my swan, my butterfly, what you fail to see, is that you’re beautiful, because you’re beautiful to me."

Silence. Nothing.

Looking in the mirror, as an adult, I now believe that the fat little girl with glasses, staring back at me, is perfect indeed.

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "

Jessica:
True beauty is not external but internal-it is the love and kindness you give unconditional with the passionate heart. For like I have always said:

The beauty of the seasons may come and go....
But the Beauty of the fine sensuous lady forever glows

Life should never be measured by how many breaths you take..........but by how many breaths you take away

For external beauty fades in time.......Internal beauty last a lifetime.

Jessica, this poem is so so so beautiful and realy hits the mark that real beauty cannot be seen with thy eyes.....but felt with thy heart.

Thank you for sharing Jessica and please take care. Have a very beautiful and safe weekend..

Regards,
Dave Richardson
