Wind blows me away
To a dream.
Of honeysuckle, strawberries,
Cookies and cream.
Oh life so sweet, you endear me
But without the cherry on top,
The glass is half-empty.
Where can I find my cherry?
Just one in the vast garden of universe
If everything is ephemeral
Would I have the time
To get there? To find you?
To grow and make memories
Until forever ends.
Or would I just stay?
And get a slice of all the funny cakes?
And take a sip of all
The variety of milkshakes?
Oh life so sweet, you entice me
But together they all are the same.
I need to find my piece of cherry.
Wind blows me away
I wish I’d fall in your arms someday.
So my eyes would see life
In a more different way.
Topped with my cherry, my cherié…
What is sweet can be sweeter,
What is good…can be better.
You make your point so well in this wistful piece.
What a great idea, writing a poem with apparent ease and adorning it in language and images connected with all the goodies we've known and craved since early childhood. By the end of the poem you succeed in effortlessly ringing bells of memory in the reader's mind: the joy of many friendships shaded in moments of solitude by the need for something deeper beyond....the personification of the proverbial cherry on the confection alias that someone special who magnifies the joy of life.
Well put and well done!
