Slowly...the light has grown.

Increased it's intensity,

Allowing me to see more of reality.

Slowly...I turned my head.

Opened my eyes,

In awe I find the truth behind human slavery.

Slowly...the rope that strangles me fell.

One of my cages melted,

I walked to an alley of prison cells...dark and cold.

At the end, a voice asked me a question:

"Learning is power, what leads to freedom?"

Slowly...I answered,

"Unlearning."

And cages to which separates men and women melted,

The chains that stifle them broke.

Together they held each other's hands

And slowly walked to where the light is.

Author's Notes/Comments:

March 12, 2004- I wrote this after attending a Gender Sensitivity forum.

Man and Woman must have an equal sense of both masculinity and femininity. WE SHOULD MEET HALF-WAY.

When was the last time you became a free human being?
