It’s 6:30 in the morning
Why am I awake?
Maybe I’m really not.
See, my eyes are open
But, I don’t see the light.
Work all day
Work all night
From sun up to sun down
Laboring to keep it all
All day
All night
Awaken by force
Driven to sleep
By the radiance of the sun
By the silver in the moon
Tirelessly toiling through grueling demands
To obtain and contain,
Just to retain and maintain.
For goodness and grace,
Listless appendages hustle continuously
Livelihood’s survival is senior to all
Work all day
Work all night
Reaping rewards that lack in quantity
Overwhelmed by its comical quality
Exhausted mind, body and soul
As time repeats rises and falls
From dusk to dawn
Work all day
Work all night.
