Despite the shadowed chill of recent shocks,
their love led them here, shortly after dawn.
They did not hesitate, nor pause to think
of how the body might look, now, or stink.
But bringing spices, in a hand-carved box,
and worried who would move the blocking stone's
girth, they came to the opened, empty tomb.
And, in its quickly dissipating gloom,
they found no trace of flesh, or blood, or bones.
They saw a young man, seated on the right
side of the sepulcher. Clad in a white
robe, like the angels wear when seen, he said
that Christ could not be found among the dead;
but, on His way to Galilee, had gone.
