At The Strawfields, 2

[after Exodus 5]

(dedicated to all employees of all call centers)

Strawfield task master now, I supervise

the Hebrew slaves here.  For the most part, they

work as we have directed, and obey

orders.  But, sometimes (I think) that their eyes

dare to flash hatred of their slavery

and of Pharaoh's ambitious policy

of new construction up and down the Nile.

These slaves ought to embrace, and not revile,

their part in our nation's economy.

The cities and the monuments that we

erect, according to our ancient style,

improve our lives, and wealth, and destiny.

And any slave is fortunate to be

included, nor should seek delivery

from this---it gives them job security.
