I suggest, "Comrades,"
that Marx's thought responded
to images that
emerged from bourgeois circles
like George Sand's and Daniel Stern's.
Author's Notes/Comments:
I came to this conclusion in the Autumn of 1976. George Sand participated directly in the French Revolution of 1848, and Daniel Stern---although a novelist, not an academic scholar---wrote a history of that Revolution, in several volumes, which was considered highly authoritive from its publication and up to the October Revolution in Russia.
