I thank you Lord for news of his Salvation,

my grandson's; whom---for all these eighteen years---

I have addressed, most often, as the "Chief."

The news comes as great joy and real relief

that he and I will share a destination,

secure from sin's effect and its damnation,

untroubled by unsaved death's ghastly fears;

and in Christ, finding our souls' exultation.
