the heart

I'm having struggles that I'm not proud of

Nothing especially grand

Just a tiredness I can't shake off

When did things get so out of hand

Cover my eyes in lilies and violets

Close your mind, embracing the silence

Maybe tomorrow I'll get some sleep

And spend the time I've got to buy a little peace

You tell me this only lasts for a little while

And like a child I'm inclined to believe you

When did this world become so wild

Where is the purpose I held onto

Wrap yourself up in linen sheets

They can be so condescending, it's true

Tell yourself it's only just a little sleep

But no one can give it back to you

Has the world always been right here

Balancing on my shoulders

I know why I'm sad but it's been eight years

Somehow I don't see me getting older

Heavy is the heart that breaks

Heavy is the heart that breaks
