Caricature

I just think you see a caricature of yourself

with the bad parts

blown up

disproportionately

and the great parts

shrunken down

you don't look in a mirror and see

the way your smile brightens up the atmosphere

the selfless things you do

the sweet things that roll off your tongue

or the intelligent things too

or the face you make when you're thinking

or the way you can put people at ease

or the way you can set someone straight

when they're misguided

you focus on the few things

you've decided are wrong about yourself

and you never see

the beauty

banging on the glass of the mirror

begging for you to see

Author's Notes/Comments:

this used to be prose, but I changed it to a poem and I like it better this way. but I had to re-post it to keep it from being labeled "prose"

Your poem portrays very well that a person is not only what you see of a person. And that there are many good qualities that can make up an individual. A good read I enjoyed your poem.
