The betrayal

The infection was coming to planet Earth. It feeds from living things, searching each planet from the galaxy, and its next stop was our planet.

Frank: There’s no time left, we need to go, Hurry!

John: Did you lost your mind?

Frank: I’m serious

John: I really don’t understand you

John was really shocked and out of concern, he really doesn’t understand what does Frank wanted to say. Frank explained that the infection was coming, and that if they stayed there they will both die. John told him that he has the key to stop the infection. That he needs to activate the machine with one of the two keys he had and Frank said that such thing doesn’t exist. After a long discussion, John’s commander, Lee, appeared.

“Did you activate it already John?” Said Lee.

“No, Frank over here doesn’t let me” answered John.

“Don’t listen to him.”

Frank interrupted and asked Lee if he already told John what the machine really does. The answer was the there was no need to. It was the only way to stop the infection and save the whole galaxy. Frank then proceeded to explain John. The reality is that the machine is a weapon of mass destruction, if you activate it, you will kill the whole human race. John looked shocked, and quickly removed the key from the machine.

“What are you doing!?” Shouted Lee, “activate it! You need the brilliant key to activate it, not the yellowish one”

“Are you crazy?!” Said John “we need to save the human race, not destroy it!”

“It’s the only option John”

Lee started to explain that the infection would arrive soon and feed from the human race. The only way to stop it is to remove its food. Human race has the same ending in both choices, the difference is that if he activates the machine, human race will be destroyed and the infection would not have a source of food anymore, therefore, it will die also. So John seriously looked back at Lee, “No way” John said. So he pointed him with his assault riffle. But the special commands of Lee started to point John and Frank. “If you don’t give us the key, we will have to take away it from a brutal manner” said Lee. There was an intense fight between the two sides. Seconds later, the infection started to enter the command room starting the infection with two of Lee’s special forces. When Lee was distracted looking for his other soldiers, John and Frank started to run. When they arrived the other terminal, they need to wait for the helicopter, to take him away from that place, before the infection started to propagate everywhere. When both of them stepped on the helicopter, John looked far from his feet and realized that the key he had was the yellowish, not the brilliant one. So the helicopter flew away quickly from the place. John and Frank just watched a little spark of fire in the sky, propagating through the world. This sensation just took one second. Now everything is gone.
