You met me many years past
To be a darling of my heart
I loved you and you loved me too
And you said we would never part
You are a girl of your own kind
All at once left me in the lurch
What happened that you changed your mind
Begged for yourself to make no search
Some relatives of yours and mine
Were fussy at the noble tie
They rushed us with an ill design
And we in the last ditch were to die
You had sincere reverences
For your parents and kith and kin
Too pretty to pose your differences
My gorgeous girl I could not win
How odder is that pierces me
That ere deserting you were meek
One hundred kisses were at least
You showered upon my lips and cheek
No doubt your kisses were lusty
You embraced me to bid farewell
Your amorous eyes were too thirsty
To hide the passions - I can tell
You are innocent I do know
I have nothing to complain of
I did my best to have a go
I looked for you while I played golf
At climax was the tragic show
I suffered from the severest shock
Though I survived the fatal blow
Your memories sweet I could not lock
You put your courtship on the shelf
For the oriental traditions
By subtracting me and yourself
Howe'er you made no additions
For I came to know that so far
You are aloof and all alone
I wonder what a lass you are
You have kept your word on your own
Daily a score of times at least
I remember your fortitude
Your cherished notion is a feast
You creep into my solitude
Your fragrance I smell in the air
Your loveliness still fresh and fair
With my heart filled with woe I woo
My lady! tell me when and where?
