On The Edge

Poems

I awoke early this morning having gone to sleep just minutes before.

Something told me it was about to begin, but sadly I closed my eyes to her existence.

I could smell it brewing to the surface. Why would it begin?

Opening my eyes I glance across the headboard to find her laying... shimmering... wanting.

Damn you bitch! Why do you do this to me?

I stare at the ceiling hoping the white would envelope me, and take me to the unknown.

She calls me, "Come over."

I reach over and softly fondle her shiny edge.

I roll back over and bury my face in the feathers.

I scream, "No don't make me do it!"

Clenching my eyes, my jaw closes tightly grinding my teeth to the music of my own heartbeat.

Relaxing I lay face down in the pillow.

It's over. Damn.

...

Quickly I turn, grab her and slide her across my skin.

All that's white becomes crimson and ...

it's all over.

I sigh.

The music comes to a screeching halt.
