Metaphorical and Symbolic Language

Are indeed elements of style, but how to separate the poet from the poem? - Word choice shall not be enough; mood, tone, slant, and theme surely have a counterpart inside the writer's head or a small corner of the poet's soul. The poet shall strive to become their work. ~allets~
