Occultation

Her shadow was heavy

Our sky turned cold

I just sat

As I was floored

Sensations heavy

Vibrations strong

Moon just crossed

Our flaming sun

Now days I've been looking at stars so close I could almost reach out and touch them.

Stars

For sure. Just wish it wasn't quite so cold when they are out shining. Summer is over I guess.

A profound metaphor is described in these few words!  Excellent!

I presume this was inspired

I presume this was inspired by, and written after, the recent eclipse.  However, you have very wisely left out all specific identifying detail, so that it becomes universal.  It could be written on Saturn in four thousand years and still mean just as much as it means now.

For sure...

We were just outside the direct path yet the intensity of sensation which was produced was almost mind boggling! However, the poem was influenced by a number of things. Kinda feeling off balance since the event though. Weird. Or not. Definitely interesting. Appreciate your words as always...

I, too, have felt off-balance

I, too, have felt off-balance since the event.  My doctor ascribed the off balance to a bout of vertigo brought on by the unnatural position of my neck when i was leaning back to watch the moon's movement.  I am only just now starting to feel a bit normal again.

That's kinda funny that the doctor said that. I get vertigo sometimes. Seems to be an inner ear thing. Eclipse was super intense!

My ears are not shaped right

My ears are not shaped right due to a small birth defect, which includes a bit of nerve deafness in the ears.  My doctor said that the angle of head tilt backward really through off the balance fluid in the ear, and that is why, the next day, i felt like a hangover.  i had to take time off work and go to the doctor because i felt so rotten, i thought i had the flu.  My error was to go in and out from my office, to watch the different stages, which made for too much tilting of my fat head.  the doctor said do not go in and out next time, stay put, or just miss it.

Man, do you get vertigo on

Man, do you get vertigo on occasion aside from that event? My doctor thought me this thing where we lay on our back with head hanging off the edge. We are to turn head to the side allowing the vertigo to start and just riding it out. Then to other side. Then back to center before rising back up. Seems to get things back in place. Glad I learned it. When my vertigo kicks in it can last for weeks.

I would probably choose to suffer if I could observe another eclipse. Course, laying down to look up is probably the best option. Take day off of work next time...

Please forgive me for not

Please forgive me for not replying to this.  No offense was intended at all.  My vertigo has never lasted more than a few moments.  It has seemed to become more frequent with the medications that I have to take for my blood pressure.  But I have never had it while looking at the sky before.  Just one more aspect of aging, I guess.

I did not get to witness the event, I had to work. But there has definitely been a shift since the event.

Feels like something shifted in me toward the intolerant. Now I gotta work on that one again. To some degree anyway. One can only tolerate so much before action must be taken. Anyway, Eclipse was intense!! Someday I would like to see it in full.
