A poem of thanks
I send to those
From our ranks,
In harm’s way pose.
I speak of the cops,
Helping us to evacuate,
Then staying on top
Keeping looters away.
Thank you.
I speak of the utility women and men
From all the states
That have come in,
To restore services no matter what it takes.
Thank you.
I speak of the department and grocery stores,
That bring in ice and give it away free,
Staying open longer than before,
To provide necessities.
Thank you.
I speak of the drivers of the gas trucks,
Without them, evacuees would be stuck.
I speak of the relief workers and volunteers,
When you pass them on the road, raise a cheer.
Thank you.
For our neighbors that are reaching out,
And all those doing their part,
You know what it is all about,
And our thanks comes from deep in our hearts.
Thank you for all you do,
This poem, is a special thanks to all of you.
SO VERY TRUE, THESE MEN AND WOMEN HAVE PUT THEIR LIVES ON HOLD TO GIVE US BACK OURS, AND MANY OF THEM HAVE SUFFERED BIGGER TRAGEDY'S THAN WE HAVE. SOME LEFT THEIR FAMILIES AND TRAVELED LONG DISTANCES ALSO. I ACTUALLY SENT A THANK YOU CARD TO PROGRESS ENERGY FOR THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION. INSTEAD OF CURSING THEM WE SHOULD ALL THANK THEM. WHEN I SEE A CONVOY OF 10 TRUCKS FROM OUT OF STATE IT BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES, I AM VERY GREATFUL.
SHERRY
This is a very well thought and sincere way to acknowledge hard work of others. Good expressions of feelings from a good heart.
