334 Days to Go

Dear Seina and my baby girls,

You know your are my world.

I didn’t mean to upset you all so,

I just had to say I loved you.

I wanted you all to know.

I know how hard it is to see them cry,

I am with children who watched their parents die.

They live in squalor and constant fear.

They have seen so much, they have no more tears.

A few of us try to give them care,

Watch over them while we are there,

About ten of them hang out here at camp,

We give them food, and shelter from the cold and damp.

May be, this is what God has called me for,

To bring his love to the foreign shore.

I can’t believe our luck,

The Sergeant said he found ten cots that fell of a truck.

That wasn’t the least of it,

He also found a large tent.

We have set up a kind of group home,

Our women troops tend the children while we are gone.

They range in age from fourteen to four,

Seems every day we get a few more.

We have asked local authorities what to do,

They just shrug their shoulders at you.

So I guess we are on our own,

To do our best to provide a home.

Even Linda was moved to tears,

At some of the little ones we have here.

I provide some medical care,

It is all they will get over here.

We have a little boy,

I want to send there.

Ask Doctor Vance

For his special talents to share.

He can fix the lad’s deformities,

To give his life some normalcy.

Tell him, I will pay,

Just fix it so little Abu can play.

Oh, hon, if you could see their little faces,

I know you would do the same in my place.

I am going to give Linda the story on me,

If she can get these kids on for charity.

I got your pics and they were hot,

Thank your mom for those shots.

Don’t know how they got out,

But they did for all that were sent,

You are the camp pin up all about,

Even in some of the females tents.

Gave morale a major boost,

If you get my drift,

Hear moans of pleasure from the hootch

Strange sex smells I whiff.

Well, if you can round up clothes for my kids dear,

It would be a blessing and bring some cheer.

Hope you and the kids had a happy Easter.

God sent these children to give us cheer.

Hug my girls and kiss them too.

I miss and love all of you.

Sean
