I was dead,
but now I live.
My family's had
Only faith to give.
Broken and alone
Near death was I,
What sins atoned
Before I die.
I prayed to my lord
and never lost faith
True to his word
I would be saved.
Out of the darkness
I saw the light
My saviors wrest
Me with a fight.
Taking me broken and frail
To safety in the night
My brothers-in-arms did not fail
To bring me to the light.
My ordeal over,
I am on the mend,
To my green brothers,
My thanks I send.
Without them I would not be here this way,
On behalf of my family, and country, I say
Thank you, for my tomorrows, to you today.
And for my brothers still there
Lord keep them safe is my prayer.
This is a very nice tribute to a brave young soldier. No young teenaged girl (or boy for that matter), should have to go through such a horrific experience.
Guess I'm going to have to try and remember that "Web Page" thing.
Jessica has been flown to Germany for nursing care. I wish her a speedy recovery. Read your poem over and over again. Her teen face is such a contrast to that of the hard core leaders twists on face while they sham feelings giving speeches.
This is superior, showing that you are highly gifted. I was flabbergasted, and wishing that I had thought of it. I wonder if Jessica has seen it. God bless your work.

Very moving...
