A WILLOW WEEPS
A weeping willow
stands silently
at the waters
edge
Planted there
so long ago
now a full grown
lady
Gracefully
bends, casting
her eyes down-
ward
looking deeply
into the pool
Waiting for a
breeze to cool
her passion
from the summer
heat
Her eyes become
misty
a gentle rain
begins to fall
slides down her
cheeks
dripping into the
water
the wind catches
her hair
tangles it with
memories
weaving patterns
so clear
unclouded
Reflections dance
before her eyes
reflections of
yesterday
so many faces
familiar and alive
fanciful playing
games with her
heart
Images emerge
a picture of
someone dear
once stood beside
her
handsome and tall
cut down long ago
Now she stands
alone
thinking of him
looking out over
the water
she looks away in
wonderment.
