When very young,
My lover gave to me
A string of pearls
to wear, while he
was out to sea.
I received a message,
He won't return to me.
I jerked the pearls,
from my neck,
threw them out to
sea.
He is there, and his pearls
forever there will be,
Today, he and his pearls,
Just a haunting memory.

A string of pearls
Is it not a sad poem of going apart forever?
what a lovely piece,in my country pearls abound, we take it for granted, but when given by someone special, then we hold it close to our hearts.
