A BROKEN HEART

Folder:
FALLEN LEAVES

When you left my heart was broken.
Tiny pieces were scattered every-
where. My search began to find them
and repair the damage.
I grew very excited, for in my search
I thought I had finially gathered all
of the pieces together again.
The task began, trying to attach each
piece in the proper place. Making it
look as if nothing had ever happened.
No one would ever know the damage
that had been done. I was almost
finished when I realized a tiny piece
was still missing.
I searched everywhere, in the darkest
corners, but it had vanished. I finially
came to realize, a broken heart will
never be as it once was. It will always
remember.

Thank you for critiquing some of my work. The poem about the father, was written for a friend of mine who lost her dad....if you would like to read a poem about my dad it's called "Once a Shark"....anyway...I love this poem you have here...it's beautiful...I love the words, the gathering..and the realization. Then I love the last lines that the heart always remembers. It's so true.
