EDUCATED IDIOT

what must it be like

to think you are all that

(and a bag of chips no doubt)

what must it be like

to have everyone hang

(themselves for having listened)

what must it be like

to believe in your own drivel

(while the crowd laughs)

what must it be like

to live in only a shell

(the soul is the essence)

what must it be like to

look into a tainted mirror

(seeing only what you want to see)

what must it be like

to be what I call

an educated idiot

thinking you know all

you are all

no one having the chutzpah

to say

"hey you know.... you aren't all that"

well here it is

out on the table

YOU AIN'T ALL THAT

Love it...I've said it for years...Send and Idiot to college and what do you get..An Educated Idiot...nothing more...nothing less. Well I guess and Educated Idiot could be more dangerous but not because he is smarter but because of the position of power he can be placed in.

Renee, As I read this a fairly lengthy list of educated idiots came to mind as I'm sure has happened for every reader who's come along here. The SADDEST thing about these people is you can tell them they're not all that, you can offer proof they're not all that, you could show them this very pointed and honest poem, but they would never EVER believe it was about them.

Nice read, Renee'. I was just about to insert one similiar, but, your words blend on a magical rhythm. Linda ps. I may insert anyhow. Thanks for inspiring me

Hi Renee I really liked the title of this poem. To be educated can be good to a certain extent. But I feel to be educated in life is far more deserving. Oh well, these are my thoughts anyways! Have a nice day :) Roz

Well said. We all know people like this and your words are right on target. I wonder sometimes how this type of person exists without the false praise of others. I like your style.

Very good Renee!! Brings to mind a group of individuals who I observe weekly as they stand around patting each other on the back in united ignorance.
