TAPESTRY

When I hear the word tapestry,

her image comes to mind.

I am talking about Carole King,

a voice so forceful and passionate.

Now she can really feel the music,

as she tickles keys of ivory,

her fingers leaveing behind prints of her soul,

and drops of blood, coming from a heart bleeding with pain.

Listen to her words, feel the emotion with her,

see her sitting at her piano, alone, lightly feeling the keys,

soft breeze blowing, then she starts to build to the finish,

by the time the last note plays, she is spent.

Oh I love to hear her sing Smackwater Jack,

oh the emotion behinds those words she sings.

A blues style only she can sing,

makes one hang on her every word.

Once again, you have captured a musical style perfectly with your writing....I am sitting at my computer and hanging on the wall in front of me is one of the tapestries that I own...I read your words and thought about my tapestry....and Carole weaves with her words and music just like my tapestry...she paints a scene with her words, just like my tapestry does. Thanks, Renee! Kris

Hi Renee On seeing the title of this I was hoping it was about Carole King. I have that CD and I listen to it on a regular basis... she is such a legend, and you have portrayed her well in this poem... thanks for sharing! Roz

Renee, Man do I love Carole King's music. All of it, from the stuff she wrote for other people like "The Loco Motion" and "(You Make me Feel like) A Natural Woman" to the stuff she made famous herself especially "It's Too Late" and "I Feel the Earth Move". She has such versatility in her songwriting, it's amazing! Great tribute to a great artist indeed!
