time is like a flowing stream, churning to the sea
goes through many changes to get to where it`s meant to be
becomes a creek, growing stronger as it flows
will time allow it to flow on? time only knows
the creek rises and grows stronger with the rain
like love and laughter,it needs rain, or its journey was in vain
with each drop it swells and flows closer to its home
will time allow it to go on? or will it die alone?
the creek becomes a river, with obstacles and turns
each turn a mystery, never knowing where it may churn
like time, and life, some obstacles may slow it down
it must never give up, it must get to where its bound
the river of time is like your life, you belong to the sea
you have as the river, a place you were meant to be
a place where you traveled far in time to feel at home
and as the river becomes the sea, never again to be alone
The journey that is called life finds hopeful meaning and progress in the passage of time. Time itself flows or fleets depending on our experiences and how we let these experiences shape us. Joyce's "river of time" captures one's imagination with its abundant use of imagery and natural metaphors and similes connected to the life giving essence of rivers and seas. Joyce declares: "the river of time is like your life, you belong to the sea you have the river, a place you were meant to be a place where you travelled far in time to feel at home and as the river becomes the sea, never again to be alone". These are overwhelmingly beautiful words that point us to the power of oneness in life's "river of time. May human see. May we hear and be from "river of time"! Ugonna Wachuku
