poem_127_The_Van

"I'll just be a second, Sweety

I won't keep long

The windows are cracked a bit

'Ill be back before the next song"

At that time it was 110

In the van 15 degrees hotter

It was 11 o' clock that summer day in Texas

Here began the torture of her daughter

The cassette had played 5 times through

And still the little girl was in the van

The temperature increased slowly

As the day hit its peak span

The condensation on the water bottle

Beaded and quickly fell

Heat waves from the parking lot

Soon began to excel

The interior was nothing but velvet

A dark absorbing color at that

The more the sun shined through

The hotter the little girl sat

Restless the little baby became

The heat more than she could bear

But still no mother to be seen

As sticky moisture drenched the air

Hours passed by

It was already one o' clock

The baby now screaming in agony

Began the first stages of shock

Her face began to flush

She had difficulty breathing

She started to act strangely

Then she soon started heaving

Her body went limp

Her eyes rolled back

Then she started convulsing

As there came the attack

The car seat didnt hold her

Seeing as it was improperly placed

It fell over hitting her head

And her brain became displaced

There was blood all over

Her twitching finally stopped

Then came the cops

As they opened the door her body dropped
