Hurting

Alone in the corner she sits, only a shadow of her former self. Her body worn from mistreatment,

her soul bruised from being let down too often.

Her eyes a shade of red, from crying.

No one seems to know her past. No one seems to notice the emptiness inside. Her jumpy motions expose her insecurity. Her possessive nature is mistaken for jealousy, when infact it is just paranoia.

She feels like everyone is going to leave her, because through most of her life, everyone has.

her defensive words only mask her weakness.

She protects her heart as if it was the most valuable possesion in the world. Scared to open it,

always feeling like it will be crushed again,

like so many times before

Oh my god...I loved this poem. It "reminds" me of someone I know quite well... Good job girl!
