Memories of My Late Mother

Folder:
Bizarre/Death

Even when death approached,

You showed without reproach.

You took the pain in stride

Just to call my name aside.

As I reflected on your dignity,

The way you faced sudden tragedy,

My spirit overwhelmed me,

With your loss, strength had bereft me.

The look of death didn't change you -

Kindness and peace yet still

on your solemn face impressed,

That scene on my mind would never efface.

Softness radiated love

as you were laid in lifeless estate -

Or was it forgiveness for those

Weeping loved ones you left behind.

Today, I look back pensively

Wond'ring those amazing feats you did.

The gifts of life you gave to us,

No earthly treasure can ever replace.
