Custard Creams

You were standing looking so pretty.

With your shoe laces un-done.

But you wouldn't say anything.

Just continued to drink your rum.

I remember all the days.

I know all the dreams.

In our youth and revolt.

You always spoke about custard creams.

Yesterday is our past.

Tomorrow holds our joys.

It's something we have between us.

Watching kids play with their toys.

Waking up during the night.

Seeing the time of the light.

Knowing what just happened.

Yes you're smiling with delight.

You're looking at where we are.

Memories you can hold dear.

Even though she's gone now.

You still love her every year.

Your kids have heard the tales.

Asking of the stories.

"What happened to mum dad?"

God took her, all high with glory.

Okay this one brought a tear.

Not only because I lost my own mother a few years ago but

also she was addicted to Custard Creams.

Thanks for the memory.

Do you mind if I print this one out...For my own personal use only?

You tell one thing so well.

You tell one thing so well. Just as you should in a poem or song Anything else takes away from the main idea/theme. You did this quite well. An you wrote directly to the rhyme. no matter the meaning, you hit the rhyme perfectly.  ~~A~~
