I was recalling today
the time our paths collided
And we danced mad
into the weeks,
like tornadoes
scavenging for a feast.
A whirlwind of ecstasy:
Laughter unhinged
Passion unbridled
And smiles that
reached the stars.
From where we are
it seems distant.
Though it was only
moments ago
we chased impediments off
with scowls.
Insisting on our
unabashed existence.
And still we do.
A bit off-center
from what we knew.
But the dust devil we grew
still
somewhere howls.
