What Makes A Christian, A Christian?

What makes a Christian, a Christian?

Is it in my shout?

Is it in my dance?

Is it my song?

What am I doin’ wrong?

I was told, if you brought up a child in the way they should go,

When they are older they shall not depart from it.

But what am I told do when what I was taught, begins to contradict my own life’s lessons?

What am I to do when my spiritual life collides with my regular life?

Let’s go to the movies.

Let’s go to bible study.

Let’s go to this party.

Let’s go to prayer service.

I don’t know.

Where should I go?

My spiritual mind tells me go to bible study.

But my mind see it tells me lies.

Tells me I have tomorrow to go bible study

and next week to go to a youth meeting

And next month to attend district assemblies

And next year to go Revival

My mind tells me lies

Says I have all the time in the world to do everything in the world.

I have an endless list to fulfill since I am in my youth and I can do anything at

Anytime.

So

What makes a Christian a Christian?

Is it in my mind?

Is it in my time?

Is it in my work?

Or is it going to church?

Is it how many bible verses I memorize?

Or how chances I get before I realize?

Someone tell me honestly I am confused

Lost without any help.

I don’t know the first thing about being Christian.

I know that I have to do certain things to keep myself under God’s hand.

But

I don’t want to stop having fun.

I don’t wanna go to church all the time

I don’t wanna stop goin to parties.

I don’t wanna stop dancing.

I don’t wanna be slain in the spirit.

I don’t wanna shout in front of everybody.

I guess

I don’t want a personal relationship wit God.

So

What makes a Christian a Christian?

I finally see.

At the answers they live in me.

It’s not in my shout or my dance.

It’s the fact that God gave me a second chance.

Made his only son come to this earth just to die,

For my sins.

For my transgressions.

Just

For me.

If it’s a religion you’re givin me, I don’t want it.

If it’s a bible and some anointing oil, you can keep it.

If it’s a shout and a song, you can save it,

For another poor misguided soul.

Because now I know

What makes a Christian a Christian.

It’s the belief in Jesus Christ.

The belief that he came to this earth, witnessed to many people, died on the cross and it doesn’t end there, he rose again 3 days later.

So what makes me a Christian?

My wisdom to know the differences and follow God.

Hey us Christians do some funny shit!

We're not all squares and church is in your heart, in this poem. The beauty of it is is okay to be us and then there's the added potential to be a better us, then make a difference with all that confidence. Moderation. That's what it's all about, fellowship extended family, support network, and no matter how many times you deviate from the good you're always welcomed back in fold. Fricken awesome. No I don't run around singing hymns that's not me ;)

Don't let any one shake your dream stars from your eyes, lest your soul Come away with them! -SS

"Well, it's love, but not as we know it."

You Had Me Worried There For A Minute. :)

AWESOME POEM!!
Once I saw the title to this poem, I knew I had to read it to see what was being said and the point of the poem.
At begining of the , I was getting a little concerned because you started listing all things that really most people think that Christians are all about and that's not the case.
THEN I GOT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE POEM...
AND It was relief for me because you had a clear understanding about what being a Christian is and that it's not about the Shouting , Dancing, and etc...
It's a much deeper concept than that. :)
