In front of the mirror she stands
Wondering what she needs to change
In order for someone to know her name
From head to toe, she looks down in shame
At every scare on her fragile frame
Their reminders of a broken past
And who she used to be
Before the hurt and the pain
A time when she felt completely free
But she’s so hurt, that she can’t see
The beauty hidden beneath the seams
She believes every lie, she’s ever been told
That she is worth nothing
And for every hand she will try to hold
Will ultimately let her go
That love is just a word and that it doesn’t really exist
It’s just a fairytale, a myth
It will never come true
She looks in her reflection and believes what she sees
That she is what the mirror makes her to be
Someone who’s broken, ugly and torn
Who is unloved and forgotten
But there’s so much more to her
Then what’s being conceived
If only she could look beyond the mirror
And see what God sees
So as she stood there looking once more
She then heard a voice, one that she has heard once before
It spoke to her within her soul
My daughter, my precious one, whom I love
You are so much more than those lies let you believe
For you are worth something, more precious than gold
More beautiful than any star, that the sky could hold
You are never truly alone and never will be
For love is real, it does exist and it is forever true
It is because of love I have never let go of you
For I love you more than you could ever know
For you are my princess, a daughter of the king
A beautiful masterpiece, you are one of a kind
You were created by these hands with a love so divine
For I designed you with a purpose, a reason to shine
Because my precious dear one, you are mine
For I see beyond the mirror and what it deceives
It can only show you what you chose to believe
But what I see no reflection of glass can compare
No scars can hide the beauty beneath
That lies within you, can’t you see
For you are whole and you are beautiful,
You are loved, but not just by anyone my dear
You are loved by me
For you are my daughter, whom I love so dearly
I love every inch of you, from your head to your toes
For I made you, so I know
I know it hurts you so to see those scars
That life had given to you
Thinking because of them, no will love you
But oh my dear one, that is not true, because I love you
As she heard these words speak, her eyes filled with tears
For deep in her heart she had been longing to hear
These loving words
Who knew they would come from love, himself
He who loves her so dear
Who came and helped her see
That she was more than her scars and the lies she believed
That she was beautiful and was made free
For she is his precious daughter, one who he loves so dear
Enough to make her see
Beyond the mirror.
