Sounds very definately like depression. Hope the person got professional help. Your poem is brief but gets to the point on depressive behaviour. An interesting read.
Rhyming incessantly is a symptom of some mental illnesses, but if you want to get technical about it, doing anything incessantly is a symptom. So in that case, everyone has some sort of symptom. Symptoms aren't the problem. The problem is when the symptom interferes with a persons ability to be useful in society. There are plenty of highly intelligent productive (and some even infamous) individuals with symptoms who do not overuse their symptoms and learned alternative ways to cope, whereby actually becoming productive 'through' what used to be perceived as a symptom.
Mental health is a choice, but no one knows that. People either want a magic pill, or they want some sort of recognition paid in monetary value. Just my opinion but I've seen a lot and that is what I was enlightened to....learning the medical system is more of an 'industry' than a healing profession. People are on their own...really. I woukd hope to see it change in my lifetime, bit as long as people depend on symptoms to diagnose (label), and drugs that only treat symptoms, it will continue worldwide...like the neglected cancer it is.
