For Those Unknown

For those of us,
Who sit and ponder
Remembering times long passed.
There are those of us,
Who are here no longer.

During times fraught with danger,
We did our job
While young children
Oblivious
Slept sweet dreams and unaware.

Now they are adults
And free to speak
To comment, make love not war
Marry, have their children.
Safe to live their lives.

If we do not tell the tale
Then who will,
Through today's fast changing
World, who'll
Remember the fallen?

Lest we forget?
