Globalization

The textbook definition

of globalization is

pursing strategies that

lead to worldly unification.

But it seems we use

war and concrete walls

to drive us further apart.

We instill fear in foreigners

by wielding our weapons;

we barricade our barriers

from accepting immigrants.

We are not moving closer

to an alliance of all races

and all nationalities.

We have just found new

ethnicities on which

to release our

stereotyped prejudices.

We have no open door policy;

there are electric fences

along our country lines.

We execute by

aiming our guns

at these outsiders’ backs

and firing bigotry.

Is fear controlling

our defensiveness,

yet we call it security?

Or is our true motivation

the pursuit of power?

Do we just endeavor

to rule the whole world?

Why can’t worldwide peace

drive our decisions?

Must we murder our fellow man?

Perhaps we are

afraid they will discover

our weaknesses

and bring about our downfall.

But we do not survive

because we are the fittest;

we dictate by tyranny.

We prosper because

we force the world

to scream in terror

when we near their borders.

They panic only because

they’ve seen what

the hand of war does.

They’ve seen

the mushroom clouds,

they’ve seen what happens

when anxiety explodes.

They hate us because

we believe we can

capture the world by force.

We cannot use the penalty

of death to take over the globe

because by the end there will be

no one left to govern.

Do not forget those societies

who command by manipulation

are the first to collapse.
