Unexpected Reaction

Folder:
Extended Metaphors

They met

at the intersection-

a collision

of polar opposites,

a mixture

of volatile emotions

preparing to intermingle.

But rather than

neutralizing each other,

their bonds were broken:

a miscalculation

in chemical certainty

where they dissociated

instead of combined.

One was unwilling

to change his properties

in spite of the efforts

of the other

to excite attraction.
