Awakening

Folder:
Missing Him

I tossed and turned

Waiting impatiently

For day to break,

As the realization that

The nightmare which

Initially awoke me

Could quite possibly

Become my reality.

I may have lost

The best thing I ever had,

And not accidentally;

The darkest realm

Of my mind always knew

I never earned it

In the first place.

Yet, in between sobs,

I discovered that which is

Taken for granted

Must be lost before

Its value can be found,

And suddenly all was clear.
