A large part of adulthood and maturity is coming to the realization that the cool kids were always assholes. We all grew up idolizing the biggest assholes. They were never kind and never all that compassionate. We have to unlearn all the shit we were taught. Then we realize that we were aimlessly and foolishly seeking the approval of cretins.
Will we ever learn
delusions ever so great
false dreams of coolness
We arrive at a temporary moment of bliss when we realize that we are fine just the way we are. But of course, the bliss is short-lived as some fool invents social media. Now we get to relitigate high school all over again. We fall prey to influencers that don’t deserve an audience of one. Yet foolishly we bend to their will and regress back to high school. Once again we follow the fools, we follow the assholes.
Will we ever learn?
It just seems so unlikely
fool me once okay
fool me twice I’m still asleep
wait for alarm clock to ring
Makes one wonder whatever
Makes one wonder whatever happens to the 'cool kids' once the kids part becomes a thing of the past. Perhaps the delusion and the made up bliss continues in some 'grown-up' form or do they ever come down to earth. The folder is spot on - really felt that looking up to them is the epitome of squandered serendipity. Thanks for sharing, George. /Rik.

I think the cool kids in high
I think the cool kids in high school are the biggest assholes on social media now. They're still trying to recapture that expired glory.
