Seeing a bumper sticker on a metal cooler that reads “I throw like a girl” and promotes a girl’s lacrosse team. It makes me remember a childhood injury when I played Little League baseball. I hurt my shoulder so I had difficulty following through when I threw a baseball. It limited my mechanics and my range. I was often mocked for throwing like a girl. At the time, it hurt to be ridiculed but all of a sudden, it’s not cool to throw like a girl. The winds of change blew through without me getting am accolades. Now it could be a trendy thing but my ship has passed.
I throw like a girl
but the accolades elude me
never the right time
