All these things gone down

         just a little before my time

         like the Berlin Wall

         and the Bay of Pigs

and I stopping and saying

             to myself

What exactly is going on?

          as history is made

           the Berlin Wall fall down

            Humpty Dumpty

              of communism

shatter into tiny pieces

         of unforgotten nightmares

            gas chambers of people’s

              dreams stolen from them

by a big Red Machine

           let feed on human

                tragedy and sufferning

Ho Ho Ho scream the Giant

     Ogre on the wall

Ho Ho Ho scream back

             Madam Liberty

and down the wall goes

and a death to Consensus

            freedom to all

         screaming as the bloc

            go tumbling down

and a freedom be felt

       heard in Hungary

            and in Poland

        and in Czechoslovakia

and freedom in a Pepsi can

            in America

        and freedom of speech

            in East Germany

and the Walls come tumbling

         and to myself

              I whisper how

                 the threat never ends

really it never existed

        except in our minds

            but no one ever believed me

                     then

and no one believes me now
