She told me

she never before

thought about anything

like political prisoners

or the environment

but now she

is determined

to make some

kind of difference

I can’t be sure

about any of this

so I just stay quiet

and let her talk

and she goes on

and on about all these things

she never thought

about before

There’s something  about

Screwing a poet

that really changes

a woman’s perspective on life

I never did

figure out

what it was
