COMMON ENEMY

Jimmy Armstrong’s saloon

was really cool

they had some

good beer on tap

they rotate

to keep good variety

It was also a homey pub

in Hell’s Kitchen

and I enjoyed it

some French tourists

came into the bar

I was talking with them

and recommending beers

for them to try

maybe they were subdued

because of their status

as tourists but

they weren’t stereotypes

they were amicable

and shockingly enough

 even polite

and I pointed out to them

“I’m half Irish

so we have common ground:

None of us like the British.”

And we all chuckled

It’s always pleasant

to get a good laugh

at someone else’s expense

Sad

Sorry for nightmares. S'been a while. REM sleep is where dreams happen. I do not remember dreams.

I remember dreams and I'm

I remember dreams and I'm trying to get back in the habit of writing my dreams (and nightmares) down.  They have often provided a source for inspiration in my writing.
