Those Abita Purple Haze

are pretty cool

I got drunk on them

as recently as last night

and it was decent

cause I was able to

type up a couple poems

and it was straight off

the top of my head

I didn’t bother

to copy a written poem

I guess it was cool

except the taste

gets a little too sweet

after awhile

I guess there

is a limit

to how much

you can drink of this beer

I didn’t puke

or anything like that

but I had a cloying taste

for awhile

it could’ve been

a real ugly scene

but I managed

to avoid unpleasantness

by slowing down my pace

what a genius!

I wonder if

Delmore Schwartz

had as much restraint

and I’m guessing NOT
